Rensselaer hosts Saint Joseph's College, a private liberal arts institution founded by the Missionaries of the Precious Blood. The campus is home to 1,000 students each year who participate in a nationally acclaimed Core Curriculum for general education.

Academic programs focused on skills and critical thinking - such as elementary education, business administration, biology, political science, mass communication, criminal justice, and more - have helped ensure that 98% of students are employed full time within ten months of graduation. In recent years, virtually all students applying for graduate school programs, such as in law and medicine, have been accepted.

Saint Joseph's College Pumas compete in NCAA Division II athletics and the Great Lakes Valley Conference. "Involved For Life" not only inspires its students and graduates but also suggests the many ways in which students stay involved in and out of the classroom. Campus clubs, theatrical performances, band and choral concerts, student governance, athletics, community service activities... The list is long and is reinvented each year as new students initiate ways to rally others around their particular interests.

Visitors to Rensselaer should find time to walk through the park-like campus. The central Grotto is a truly contemplative space, lush with trees and landscaping.
