Few communities even quite a bit larger than ours are as well served by the arts as is Rensselaer. The Prairie Arts Council "celebrates and nurtures artistic and cultural activities in the community" through Art Camp; dance classes and performances; a variety of exhibitions of work from local and regional artists; workshops; talks and discussions by artists, writers, and poets; and the premier summer event: Taste of Rensselaer.
| Art in the Alley: At the summer Car Show, Art League members highlighted the artistic charater of one of the city's great alleys. |
| Visitors enjoy the ceramics on display at the Lilian Fendig Gallery. |
| Dancing With Little Stars: One of the more popular programs of the Prairie Arts Council are dance classes. |
Much of this artistic and cultural activity centers on the Lilian Fendig Art Gallery, at home in the restored Carnegie Center at 301 N. Van Rensselaer Street. There, visitors will find current exhibitions, as well as a small gift shop and information on becoming a supporter of the arts in Rensselaer.
